Set in the rural Ribble Valley, Jessica’s barn conversion sits within open countryside and traditional farm surroundings. The property, believed to date back to the early 1800s, has been carefully restored with a focus on retaining its original character while introducing modern comfort. The interiors take inspiration from English countryside and farmhouse style, with a calm, neutral palette running throughout.
How would you describe the location of your property? Are you situated in an urban or rural area?
We live in a rural area in the Ribble Valley.
When did your project start and how long has it taken?
We started outside work on the barn at the start of 2024. However, as a lot of the work, we tend to do ourselves, it has taken some time and we still have jobs on going but we moved in, in September 2025.
If applicable, tell us any history you may know about your property?
When we bought the barn, it was used back in the day as a working barn but hadn’t been used in that way for some time. We aren’t too sure on exactly how old the barn was but because of the structure of the barn when we bought it, we estimate it to of been built in early 1800s as there was a plan for it in 1830.
What styles did you want to see in your renovation?
We wanted to keep as much character as possible with it being a barn conversion which is why we have kept a lot of the original stone outside. We like the English countryside / farmhouse style but with modern elements. We've kept all our colours neutral and earthy.
Is this your first renovation project?
No, my husband is a property developer, so we have previously renovated two houses.
Why did you choose Quorn Stone for your tiles?
I came across Quorn Stone on Instagram and initially loved the images and inspiration they had, they had a huge range that would suit any house style. I had been saving their images for a while and pinning them to my mood boards.
Why in particular did you choose those tiles?
They fit perfectly in our barn conversion. I have children and dogs, and I needed something that was going to be hard wearing, and they have been a dream. The colour is not too beige but not too grey either and I love how they had indoor and outdoor, as a big thing for me was bringing the outside, inside. It flows nicely when we have the doors open. I particularly love the grout style we chose which was recommended on the information section Quorn Stone provide for the exact tiles, it really gives them a rustic vibe.

Hot tap is a game changer!
What was the most difficult part of your renovation process?
I asked my husband this and he said all of it! I would say finding the right tradesman that you can trust. I’d also definitely say coming across problems as you are converting as it’s a lot different than building from the ground up on empty land.
Where do you like to shop for styling pieces?
I love Neptune, Zara Home, Still and Bloom, H&M home. I love local garden centres and collecting things from when we go away on holiday. I love cute European finds.
What three words would you use to summarise your style?
Refined, Timeless, Rustic
Are you planning on any future projects?
Right now, we are still focusing on the barn and making it 1000% perfect but never say never. I can’t see us never doing this again!
