Set in the leafy village of Hockley, surrounded by open green space, Karen Chaplin’s home carries a welcoming sense of calm. Built just nine years ago on what was once a Christmas tree farm, a story fondly remembered by locals, the property is being lovingly transformed into a home full of warmth, charm, and classic country character with Lullington Beige, Berrittini Manoir and Orkney Green Tiles.

Karen began her renovation journey in August 2024, and while the project is still ongoing, each new room reflects her inviting and timeless style. “I love country vibes,” she explains. “Neutrals with warm tones and lived-in interiors, that’s what feels right to me.”

A Timeless Kitchen
The kitchen was one of the first spaces to be reimagined, with Lullington Beige porcelain tiles forming the foundation of the design. “We had shiny gloss tiles before and I hated how they looked,” Karen shares. “The Lullington Beige gives such beautiful warmth in all lights.”

The subtle variation and soft matt finish of the tiles bring texture underfoot and complement the neutral palette perfectly, creating a space that feels both elegant and easy to live in.
A classic bathroom with a modern twist
In the main bathroom, Karen wanted a scheme that would feel classic but still full of personality. “I loved the chequerboard look, but when we visited the Bury St Edmunds showroom, I saw Berrittini Manoir paired with Orkney Green wall tiles and I was in love,” she says. “It’s so classic and won’t date. I love timeless style.”

The pairing brings warmth and balance; the soft stone underfoot offset by the cool, restful green of the shower walls. A freestanding bath completes the space and has quickly become a favourite spot to unwind at the end of the day. “It’s so comfortable and relaxing. The colours and the style just make me so happy.”

The Quorn Stone experience
“I first found Quorn Stone on Instagram,” Karen recalls, “but visiting the showroom made such a difference. I loved the experience of being offered coffee, biscuits, and such friendly help. We were made to feel valued as customers, whether we ordered or not.”
That personal connection, paired with the quality of the tiles, has made Quorn Stone part of several rooms in the home and likely more to come.

Looking ahead
Renovating hasn’t been without its challenges. “Living through the mess and chaos was definitely challenging” she admits. “But I’m so happy we pushed through, because I absolutely love the changes we’ve made.”
Describing her style as inviting, cohesive, and traditional, Karen finds inspiration everywhere, from H&M Home and Neptune to local marketplaces. “It’s all about balance and personality,” she says. “I like mixing pieces that feel like they’ve always belonged.”
With the en-suite, spare bedrooms, and garden next on the list, there’s still plenty to look forward to and, as Karen notes, “I’m sure another tile visit will be planned.”
