Carly’s late-18th-century Grade II listed farmhouse is steeped in history and rustic charm. What is the history of your property?
Our home is a grade II listed farmhouse which we believe dates back to the late 1700’s.
When did your project start and how long has it taken?
We started the project in April 2024 and it took around twelve months to complete.
What styles did you want to see in your renovation?
Traditional, classic, timeless - adding oak trusses to enhance the character in the new extension and a floor that would last.
What was the most difficult part of your renovation process?
Obtaining planning permission due to being a listed building. It took us around eighteen months to get approvals. We were lucky enough to have a committed and strong architect, plus help from Historic England. My advice to others - don’t give up at the first hurdle!
Why did you choose Quorn Stone for your tiles?
We were recommended by a friend, and we fell in love with the tiles laid out. It was much easier to choose seeing the tiles this way as appose to a picture or a sample.
What made you choose the Clermont Gris Aged Tumbled for your project?
We wanted something light in colour but with a rustic charm, compatible with underfloor heating. Last September as soon as we walked into Quorn Stone in Leicestershire, the Clermont Gris display caught our eye, and we both fell in love with the tiles!
What is your favourite interior piece and why?
I have a few favourites! I love both the Swedish Mora clock from Scrumble Goosie and the vintage wooden horse! As well as the hanging pendant lights from Pooky. We also get a lot of comments on our light switches from Dowsing & Reynolds!
What was the best bargain find during your project?
The oak bar stools were in the sale from the Shaker Workshop.
Where do you like to shop for interior pieces?
I absolutely love vintage markets.
