Set at the end of a single-track lane, surrounded by rolling fields, this stone-built cottage sits within 2.5 acres on the edge of the Peak District. The house, owned by Susannah and her Husband, dates back to the 1700s and has been lovingly refurbished over the past nine years. Most recently, their attention has turned to shaping the outdoor patio with Tuscany Seasoned Limestone Pavers.

A patio with warmth and character
For the main terrace, Tuscany Seasoned Limestone Pavers were chosen to tone beautifully with the natural stone of the house. Their tumbled edges and soft, weathered surface bring an instant sense of age and character, making them a natural choice for this cottage setting. Completed in just three weeks, the patio has since become the heart of the garden.

Terraces and steps are softened with swathes of lavender and bright petunias, while Annabelle hydrangeas, grown from cuttings, create gentle structure and seasonal interest. Over the past two years, the planting has become established, transforming the hard landscaping into a garden full of life and colour.

A garden for family life
At the heart of the patio sits a large Neptune dining table, perfect for family gatherings. It’s a place for long lunches, celebrations, and quiet moments alike. The garden has also become a space for play, where little ones can explore and four-legged companions are free to wander. With another grandchild on the way, Susannah’s plans are already forming to adapt the garden further, including infilling the pond to create an even safer, more welcoming space for future family life.

Timeless paving, made for outdoors
Tuscany Seasoned limestone is a timeless choice for outdoor spaces. Its warm tones, durability, and classic appeal ensure it feels perfectly at home in a traditional countryside garden, while providing a hardwearing foundation for everyday living.
