Step Inside Kathryn Davison’s Timeless Bathroom with Dijon Tumbled Herringbone Tiles

Situated on the outskirts of County Durham, this millennium-built home enjoys the best of both worlds, close to the city yet surrounded by farms and parks. Over the years, homeowner Kathryn Davison (@my.millennium.maison) has gradually transformed each space, bringing her timeless and considered style throughout. The most recent project, a complete bathroom redesign, has turned a compact room into a calm and elegant retreat, featuring our Dijon Tumbled Herringbone Tiles.

When did your project begin?

Work started in April 2025 and took a few weeks to complete. The renovation involved a full reconfiguration of the plumbing, allowing for a more practical layout that makes the most of the space.

How did you decide on the look and feel?

“I wanted to create a classic look that wouldn’t date easily,” she explains. “I try to avoid following interior trends and instead choose pieces that will stand the test of time.” The neutral foundation means the space can gently evolve, with wall colours or cabinetry refreshed over time while retaining its timeless feel.

Why did you choose the Dijon Herringbone limestone?

“I fell in love with the Dijon Tumbled Herringbone Tiles as soon as I first saw them,” she shares. “I love the colour, the rustic nature of the finish and the edging of the individual tiles. Each one is slightly different due to it being a natural product. They’re just beautiful.”

How did you discover Quorn Stone?

“I came across Quorn Stone on Instagram and ordered samples,” she recalls. “The choice and quality were second to none. Nothing else compared once I’d seen them in person. The customer service was excellent, and I’ll definitely go back for future projects.”

Designing a small but functional space

Though compact, the bathroom feels open and thoughtfully balanced. Determined to include both a freestanding bath and a double vanity, she cleverly used the two end walls to position the larger pieces. The result is a space that feels indulgent yet never overcrowded.

Favourite features and finishing touches

A trio of statement lights above the bath adds soft illumination in the evenings. “I was nervous it might look too domineering in such a small room,” she admits, “but it’s created a lovely glow for an evening bubble bath.”

Another clever detail is the pair of walnut-framed mirrors, transformed into cupboard doors that conceal niche storage, a subtle blend of beauty and practicality.

Lessons learnt along the way

Reflecting on the renovation, her advice is simple: “Plan every detail and get good trades. There were small things I wish I’d known in advance, like pipe positions, it sounds minor but makes a difference. Thankfully our bathroom fitter had meticulous attention to detail, which made it a dream to work with him.”

Looking ahead

Describing her aesthetic as classic, modern, heritage, she gravitates towards small, independent businesses for interiors. “It’s not always possible, but wherever I can, that’s my go-to.” With another bathroom and a living room update next on the list, this certainly won’t be the last transformation for @my.millennium.maison.
