Surrounded by countryside yet within easy reach of local life, social media influencer Jess Daines and her family have created a home that blends rural calm with everyday ease. Built in the early 2000s on land once used for farming, the property has been thoughtfully extended to create a warm and inviting kitchen and dining space, now the heart of the home, with Sorrento Aged Tumbled Limestone flooring.

When did your project begin?
This was our first renovation project. The kitchen and dining extension started towards the end of 2024 and was completed by spring 2025. Everything else prior had been cosmetic changes. Living with the upheaval and mess was definitely the most difficult part; I was a little naive!

How did you decide on the look and feel?
Natural textures and earthy tones were at the heart of my vision. Warm neutrals and tactile finishes create a space that feels lived-in and inviting. We refreshed the cabinetry with School House White by Farrow & Ball, while the island brings a touch of depth in Paprika by Neptune. For the walls we opted for Jitney by Farrow & Ball, providing a soft backdrop.

Why did you choose the Sorrento Aged Tumbled Limestone tiles?
I loved that no two tiles are the same. The fossil details and variation in tone are full of character, which is perfect for our kitchen and dining space. Sealed with Lithofin MN Stain Stop which was recommended by the Quorn Stone team, the Sorrento Aged Limestone has also proved wonderfully practical, standing up well to life with a young child and dog.

How did you discover Quorn Stone?
I first discovered Quorn Stone on Instagram, which is also where I draw a lot of inspiration for my home projects. The quality of the products is outstanding, and the service and advice have been incredibly helpful.

Tell us about your favourite features in the kitchen
The room is layered with freestanding furniture and collected finds, bringing charm and individuality. I’m especially fond of the antique pine dresser and the kitchen island that grounds the space. Secondhand treasures like the dresser and larder cupboard proved to be the best bargains of the project.

Where do you like to shop for interiors?
Mixing old and new is my signature. Antique centres and secondhand shops sit alongside pieces from Neptune, Industville, Pooky and Addison Ross. The result is a kitchen with personality that is cosy, warm and inviting.

Finally, what do you love most about the finished space?
Beyond the beautiful finishes, the kitchen is a place for family life. I enjoy baking, with apple crumble being my favourite to make, particularly when apples are in season.
Reflecting on our first renovation, I already have my eye on the next project: the family bathroom.
