Whilst natural stone floors are often considered a luxury in interior design, we have a fantastic clearance section where you can grab yourself a real bargain and create that high end look for less with 1st quality stone.

Our firm favourite is currently the Light Jerusalem honed limestone. Delicate fossilisation and subtle veining compliment the soft cream base colour of the stone. The honed finish provides a smooth and matt surface, perfect for both walls and floors.

At Quorn Stone we are always sourcing unique and beautiful limestones, to add to our ever growing range. Our new and exclusive find is the stunning Silver Cloud. This limestone is a contemporary stone with a sophisticated movement from cooler to warmer shades of subtle silver-grey tones. We recently had the opportunity to photograph one of our developer’s luxury, high end properties, where Silver Cloud has been used in the kitchen and dining area. The result is simply spectacular – but I will let the photos do the talking!

Silver Cloud Brushed Limestone Tiles

Silver Cloud is available in 500 x FL (Free Lengths). This tiles fixed width of 500mm is complimented by free lengths ranging from 600 – 1000mm ensuring that there is more stone and less grout. This format should be laid at least 100mm apart in order to create a random brick bond pattern for a great look.

Silver Cloud Brushed Limestone Tiles

Silver Cloud is also available in two different finishes;

Brushed – Results in a slight sheen and a textured surface

Sandblasted and Brushed – Results in a matt finish and a lighter colour to the surface of the tile with an even greater texture to the surface than a brushed finish

Silver Cloud is priced at £48 m2 inc VAT (Brushed Finish) and £50 m2 inc VAT (Sandblasted & Brushed Finish). Order your free samples today or alternatively give our friendly sales team a call on 01509 416557 to discuss your project requirements further.

Spring has well and truly sprung this year, right alongside our ever growing porcelain range. This month we are featuring our beautiful Belsford collection on our blog. Our Belsford collection was established in late 2016 and has proved to be an extremely popular stone due to the character and charm it can bring to a home, along with the added benefits that porcelain has to offer.

Belsford Rockpool Grey

Our Belsford collection is available in Pebbleshore which is a washed out white, and Rockpool Grey – which as the name suggests is wholly grey toned. The collection is unrectified, this means there is a slight variation around the edge of each tile – this adds character as well as mimicking the look of driftwood. Our Belsford range has most recently been used in a retail environment, and we hope you will agree that the end result is simply stunning.

Many customers ask us why they should go for wood effect porcelain over wood itself, so we thought we would share this knowledge with you, so you can make an informed decision on what is right for you.

  • 1. Our Italian sourced wood effect porcelain is resistant to scratching, ensuring your floor will look as good as it did the day it was laid. Our
  • 2. Wood effect porcelain is much easier to keep clean than wood and is water resistant, making it ideal to use in bathrooms. Why not try our non-stain grout especially for porcelain to ensure it’s kept looking its best with minimal effort.
  • 3. Wood effect porcelain is suitable to use both on the floors and walls making it much more versatile than wood. It looks fantastic as a feature wall, especially in bathroom areas, and can even be laid outdoors – just ask our team for more details.
  • 4. The resemblance to real wood is second to none, we take the upmost care in selecting ranges that mimic the natural look of wood. On average our pattern repeat is around 6m2, making it uncanny to the real thing!
  • 5. Unlike wood, porcelain is a fantastic conductor of heat ensuring your feet can be kept warm should you wish to install underfloor heating.

As the type of tile suited for you is so dependent upon the light and size of your space, we encourage you to order your 4 free samples today. This way you can play around with different ranges and colours to reach a final decision on which would look best in your home. Should you wish to order a sample of the Belsford collection or any of our other ranges, please don’t hesitate to call our friendly sales team on 01509 416557, or simply fill out our sample request form.

This limestone provides a real depth with its lovely variations of grey tones and subtle markings. There is a gently aged finish to Milano Grey which is perfect for both traditional and contemporary properties. The tumbled finish can have tight grout joints which ensures easy maintenance, as well as a great look. Overall, Milano Grey is an elegant choice for any home.

My name is Rachel, a recent graduate with a BA in Photography and Video and an intern at Quorn Stone. I began this 6 week internship in January and I am now at the end of my 5th week. This internship has been a great opportunity for me and the perfect next step after finishing my degree.

From my first day, despite feeling a little nervous(!), I have been welcomed into the business and have seen first-hand the quality of service and care that Quorn Stone encompass. My main role here has been photographing the completed projects and houses with our natural stone flooring. This is followed by the post-production of images, which we have then been sharing on the social media platform, Houzz. After capturing a number of our limestone tiles in situ, I wanted to share 3 of my favourites with you…

1. Farrow Grey Tumbled Limestone

Farrow Grey Tumbled Limestone – one of the first places I photographed! This open kitchen and living area had only recently been completed with a new kitchen and flooring. The tiles grey tones contrast perfectly with the clean white cabinets, warm woodwork and cream walls within the space.

2. Dijon Brushed Limestone

Dijon Brushed Limestone – a classic, country kitchen and dining area. The popular Dijon Limestone looks beautiful in this country home. I love the floor-to-ceiling windows and doors, flooding plenty of natural light into the room. With a large antique dining table at the centre and natural stone tiles running through, the customer expressed this space has become the heart of their house.

3. Florence Sandblasted and Brushed Limestone

Florence Sandblasted and Brushed Limestone Tiles 01

Florence Sandblasted and Brushed Limestone – a contemporary open-plan kitchen and living area. My 3rd and final favourite. I thought this space was gorgeous and really liked the combination of a modern kitchen and contemporary furniture, alongside a rustic exposed brick wall and brushed stone tiles. Each element of this room felt in harmony with one another and the Florence limestone tiles looked beautiful!

It has been a fantastic experience and chance to work as an interior photographer for Quorn Stone and has been a privilege to be part of the team behind MyStoneFloor.com. Now, with many photographs taken, we have begun the process of designing and creating a brochure. As my internship comes to a close, I have built a great relationship with the company, with ongoing plans to complete a brochure of all the natural stone tiles available at Quorn Stone – watch this space!

At MyStoneFloor.com we deal with luxury property developers on a regular basis. Our developers prefer to buy from direct importers like ourselves as they know that quality has not been compromised to accommodate the middle-mans-margin! We also keep big stocks in our local warehouse so we can show potential customers our current stone tile stocks; we know this gives our customers great confidence and most are happy to buy from the big display boards we showcase in our Quorn showroom (10 mins drive from Leicester).

One of our most recent projects has been a 4 plot development on one of Loughboroughs most sought after locations, Beacon Road. Buying off plan, as was the case with the Beacon Road development, can be a difficult process; there are lots of decisions to make in a small amount of time. Luckily, we are here to help! We can provide samples to take away along with recommendations in terms of sizing, finishes and of course colour and stone type! Finding the right stone for the right application is a job we love and with varying tastes, this keeps our job really interesting and our customers often surprise us with new stone combinations which even we hadn’t thought of!

Check out the most recent images from the Beacon Road development. If you’d like any further information on any of the products you see, just give us a call on 01509 416557.

Concordia-White-Limestone-Floor-&-Wall-Tiles-Solus-2

Here the stunning Croatian Limestone tiles ‘Concordia’ have been selected in a polished finish 600×400. They are only 10mm in thickness allowing them to be used for floor and walls. As a feature wall the Blue Fume Tumbled Marble has been used with its subtle, sweeping white veining complimenting the Concordia White perfectly.

Vennatino-Beige-Cream-Beige-Polished-Marble-Floor-Tiles-Solus-1

The Vennatino Beige is a polished marble tile again suitable for both walls & floors and stocked in a 600×400 size. This creamy beige marble tile has a glassy polished finished and oozes elegance and class.

Adriatic-Blend-Brushed-Limestone-Wall-&-Floor-Tiles-Solus-2

The Adriatic Blend is a limestone tile with great character and stocked in a  400 x Free Length format. Again, with a thickness of 10mm this tile is super versatile and is suitable for both the floor and walls. The Adriatic Blend is labelled a blend due to the two colours present arising from two layers in the quarry converging. Cream and Blue are the base colours for this limestone tile, highlighted by classical veining giving a feel of real opulence.

Noce-Splitface-Mosaic-Travertine-Wall-Tiles-Solus-1

The following bathroom has a totally different look. The Pinatubo Grey brushed limestone has been used on the floor with both Dijon brushed limestone tile and strip along the walls and inside the shower enclosure. The darker grey from the Pinatubo picks out the fossilisation with in the Dijon allowing these two products to compliment each other wonderfully. For a change of texture, a feature wall has been added in our Noce splitface mosaic; a product that works really well with the Dijon and looks particularly nice in conjuction with down lighting.

As mentioned in my previous post, the importance of using the right natural stone materials outdoors can not be underestimated.  This doesn’t mean to say you can’t use natural stone in an exterior setting; with the right advice, you can achieve an elegant, timeless look at an affordable price.

MyStoneFloor.com are not only stockists but we’re also importers of natural stone and have over 20 years experience doing it. This is why we supply a whole range of trade professionals ranging from interior designers, architects to property developers. They put their trust in us to supply a product that will not only look good but also be practical and appropriate for the application in question.

Katie Malik is an interior designer with a keen eye for quality. After creating the mood board for her most recent project she engaged MyStoneFloor.com (locally we’re known as Quorn Stone) to help guide her with the suitability of using Dijon Limestone both indoors and outdoors. Her vision was to bring the tranquility of the garden inside and the usable, practical living space of the kitchen outside. Katie opted to source the Dijon in a tumbled finish; the vibration process not only mellows the colour and tonal variation of the stone but from a practical point of view, the tumbled finish also offers a good slip resistance value for the exterior.

The proof is always in the pudding and I think you’d be hard pressed to disagree when I say the end product looks truly beautiful. Check out Katie’s website to see how she could help you transform your living spaces

In recent  months we are seeing a rise in the number of customers wanting to adopt a similar, if not the same, stone used internally – externally. This most likely stems from increased installations of bi-fold doors allowing outside and inside to blend seamlessly together.

Unfortunately there are many retailers unaware of the importance of frost resistance for exterior natural stone. At MyStoneFloor.com we always ensure our limestone and marble pavers have passed the necessary frost resistance tests. We also have an infinity range of stones which allow customers to achieve the seamless look they are after by stocking both interior tiles and also the same exterior flagstones in 30mm. We always recommend a 30mm natural stone paver unless there is a solid concrete base reinforced with aluminum meshing. In this case, 20mm may be suitable.

Over the winter period we left some stone samples outside our warehouse to highlight the importance. The material in question is a dense marble tile more than suitable for  interior, high traffic areas however it is not frost resistant. The effects of even a relatively mild winter are quite showing and a clear sign of how structures of non-frost resistant stones are susceptible to the bite of frost. You’ll see how the water has entered the stone then once frozen it expands, chipping and popping small areas of the stone away from the remainder of the tile.

We can’t stress just how important using the right product for the right application is. If you are unsure, seek expert advice from a company with deep knowledge in the sourcing and importing of natural stone products.
