Step Inside a Marble Effect Bathroom
Situated in the leafy outskirts of Bristol, our customer’s bathroom has seen an incredible transformation featuring the Athena marble effect porcelain. The apartment is within a converted Grade ii listed Victorian style villa, with beautiful period characteristics such as sash windows and ornate high ceilings. The original space, however, was made up of two small bathrooms next to each other with a tired bathroom suite and dated tiles. Work began by knocking through the internal wall to create a larger space and allow more natural light in.
The customer knew they wanted a marble with just enough of a statement but wanted a tile that would be easy to look after across the entire floor and wall with a walk in shower installed. After walking past the Bristol tile shop and deciding to take a visit, the Athena marble effect tiles presented a perfect option, in a large format 1200x600mm tile size, matt finish and striking realistic veining. These tiles are made of porcelain, which is a man-made product that combines kaolin clay, finely ground sand, and feldspar. The clay mixture is fired to an extremely high temperature, resulting in a very dense tile that benefits from a low water absorption rate. As well as not requiring any sealing, these qualities made the Athena an ideal choice for the bathroom.
Combined with the marble effect tiles, finishing touches of gold sanitaryware, a floating double vanity and lighting from Porter Bathroom gives a contemporary luxury feeling to the space. The walls are painted in Atelier Ellis ‘Sticks & Stones’ and bath and door in F&B ‘Railings’ to contrast the white palette. Design by Eirwen Oxley Green @little_georgian.
