A Change of Seasons in the Home

With a shift from Septembers late Summer into the Autumnal days of October, we love this time of year for its distinct change of seasons. As temperatures drop, and the leaves begin to turn - on the horizon is an opportunity to embrace the warmth and charm of Autumn. Our customers lovely home with an oak frame kitchen shows how you can create a feeling of the season in your own home.

Natural Materials

Although a newly built kitchen, the consideration and use of natural materials makes this space feel homely and inviting. An oak frame extension was chosen for its high, vaulted ceilings and ability to instantly add warmth and charm from the rustic beams. An exposed brick wall also brings texture and natural earthy tones, alongside the use of real flagstones throughout the entire space. The customer chose the Dijon tumbled limestone flooring for its neutral beige shades, authentic natural stone details and rustic tumbled edge. Dijon limestone tiles offer a highly forgiving and durable floor covering, whilst celebrating the beauty of natural materials.

Seasonal Vases & Foliage

Vases and foliage are one of our favourite ways to dress and style a space – they offer a very simple but effective way to refresh any interior and incorporate seasonal flowers and foliage. Our customer chose the ‘Otway’ vase from CharlesTed for the island which is a lovely rustic brown ceramic vase. Combine with Autumnal faux foliage such as Neptune’s ‘Frosted Oak’ stems, for an earthy and warm palette. At the coffee table, Neptune’s ‘Thursfield’ clay vase sits beautifully with burnt red and brown dried foliage, try Hudson Home’s collection of faux and dried stems for a similar look.

Warm Tones

When we think of Autumn, it is the earthy tones that we love the most. These warmer hues can be incorporated in many ways such as throws and cushions, or even a fresh lick of paint on the walls. Here, the kitchen island and units are painted in Neptune ‘Driftwood’ which provides a perfect neutral with just enough warmth. The stools are from a local furniture store, Hearnes of Beaconsfield, who stock a range of traditional English furniture made of solid oak. The dining table is from Home Barn, who specialise in rustic reclaimed wooden furniture. The warmth of wood throughout the entire space ties the interior scheme together, creating a cosy and homely feel whilst offering plenty of practicality for a family home.

Dijon tumbled limestone is an ever-popular choice for busy family homes that need a durable natural stone to withstand the test of time. This neutral toned limestone floor tile complements an array of colour schemes with its soft beige and light grey hues. The minerals, fossils and calcite veining evident in the Dijon tumbled limestone flooring make it a forgiving and classic choice for both interior and exterior applications. The tumbled finish is a great choice for those preferring a slightly rustic feel to the Dijon limestone tiles.
