Celebrations are an all-important part of life and a way to mark those special moments! With the Platinum Jubilee just around the corner, there is an excitement in the air. Whether joining with family, friends or neighbours, now is a perfect chance to get together and celebrate. We feel there is no better way to commemorate the Royal occasion than a spot of afternoon tea in the garden and this is just what we will be doing come the bank holiday (hopefully weather permitting!).
Setting the scene for a garden party, we enjoyed creating this tablescape for a customer's home, with boasting views of the English rolling countryside and beautiful Clermont Gris limestone paving. An afternoon tea table display is something special yet simple to create, using many pieces you can find in and around the home - we hope to inspire you to recreate your own celebratory garden party to mark the occasion and make the most of the moment.
Our five essentials for an Afternoon Tea Jubilee Celebration
1. A setting with a view
Spring and Summer with their warmer, sunnier days are all about enjoying your garden space. Make the most of your outdoor space by choosing your table setting with a view - whether it's a patio looking out to nearby fields, or a little courtyard with a canopy of lush green trees, finding and surrounding yourself with nature makes the ideal afternoon tea spot.
2. Fine china crockery
An essential to afternoon tea has to be the crockery and tableware! Call us traditional, but we opted for white fine china cups, saucers and teapots - a fitting and timeless choice for the occasion. This is the perfect opportunity to bring out your finest tea sets or even have some fun with mixing vintage and new patterned crockery for a colourful English tea party.
3. Flowers ...and more flowers
No tablescape is complete without fresh flowers! Whether a single vase or small posies dotted throughout the table, fresh flowers bring a beauty and charm to your tea setting. Our choice, of course, had to be the rose - the national flower of England and the flower associated with Her Majesty the Queen. This delightful customer's patio was also surrounded by a stunning display of late tulips as they give their last 'hurrah'. In the ground or in pots, flowers always add that extra brilliance!
4. Space for the whole family
This isn't just a practical note! Creating space for the whole family is about welcoming and embracing a get-together, with a 'cheers' and a 'thanks'. We love this rustic wooden table and chairs set with plenty of room for everyone and enough chairs to host those loved ones.
5. Your favourite tea and cake
It goes without saying that it wouldn't be afternoon tea without tea and cake. But with the special celebration in mind, why not be extra decadent with your favourite selection in good measure! For us, a loose leaf blend of Earl Grey tea, a generous slice of carrot cake and freshly baked scones are the finishing touch to an afternoon of celebrations.
Now, let's raise a glass and celebrate! Have a good one x
