Porcelain Tiles FAQs
First and foremost, ensure you use a cleaner suitable for marble. Marble is a naturally occurring material that is quarried from the earth. This natural material should not be cleaned with any harsh or commercial cleaners such as bleach – acidic cleaners will eat away at the sealant and eventually damage the stone. For daily maintenance, we recommend finding a pH neutral cleaner, such as Lithofin Wash & Clean, diluted in warm water. Always vacuum (brushes down) the area to be cleaned to remove grit and dusting. Read more on how to clean marble tiles.
Marble tiles need sealing upon installation and sealant will help protect the natural surface against water and oil contamination. Subject to the correct maintenance, we recommend resealing internal dry areas, every 3-5 years, bathrooms may need resealing every 1-2 years.
The essential main difference between marble and marble effect tiles is the material itself. Marble is a naturally occurring material that is quarried from the earth. A marble effect tile is a man-made material, usually porcelain, and is made to replicate the look of real marble. Both have many benefits, as well as things to consider. Marble is a metamorphic rock formed by the alteration of limestone by heat and pressure (thermal metamorphism). This marble is quarried from the earth and cut into blocks, followed by being produced into tiles. A finishing process is carried out to give the surface of the tile a honed, tumbled or polished appearance. Read more about what is natural stone.

Marble Floor & Wall Tiles
The marble tile collection consists of elegant finishes such as tumbled stone, textured, straight cut, smooth and polished tiles. With natural marble in a range of greys, whites and blues, there is a floor tile for every project – whether a modern country style or traditional period property! There is something entirely unique and enduring in marble floor tiles. Marble is a metamorphic rock formed by the alteration of limestone by heat and pressure (thermal metamorphism). Depending on the point of extraction, some marbles can look very similar to limestones. A marble tile tends to be dense due to the process of metamorphism.
