Step Inside Freya’s Kitchen with Versailles Limestone

Set within rural Somerset surrounded by countryside and forest is home to Freya and her family including their two Maine Coon cats. Purchased in 2023, this 100 year old detached house has seen a full kitchen renovation to modernise the space.

Featuring the Versailles softly aged limestone, Freya worked with Atelier Cabinet Makers to achieve her dream kitchen; “I wanted the new kitchen – the heart of the home, to have a calming feel. We have a young family, and every day is manic! This kitchen needed to provide a central, social but functional space for us to have eyes on the kids, play with them and know that it would be the perfect space for them to grow up in. But it also needed to be a space where we could relax in the evening, where toys could be put away and it feel like a grown up space to enjoy with friends.”

“Choosing the floor was probably our hardest choice! It needed to fit such a broad criteria: hardwearing enough to cope with young children and pets, aesthetically suited to our style, suitable for inside and outside, comfortable under barefoot, not too high maintenance, not too busy as we had a patterned kitchen surface, and within budget!”

“Once we had decided to go for a natural stone over a porcelain it was a case of learning about the different types of stone and deciding which would suit our lifestyle. We chose a green patterned Quartzite kitchen worktop which does a lot of the talking in our kitchen, so the floor needed to complement this without overwhelming the space with too much texture. The Versailles limestone does this perfectly.”

“Having visited the Bristol tile shop, we had a really great experience. The staff were attentive and really understood the brief, once the order was in, the communication via email was great and the stone was delivered quickly. It’s a big investment, so having this level of customer care throughout made the experience really positive.”

“A few of my favourite items in the kitchen include the lights that hang above our kitchen table. I chose five individual pendants, all from Pooky then had them fitted onto one wooden bar so they feel like one piece. There is an eclectic feel to the collection but each one ties in with the wall lights or colours found elsewhere in the room. I also gifted myself a Sage coffee machine once the kitchen was complete. It is such a luxury as I am the only coffee drinker in the house!”
