Step Inside a Spring Kitchen with Abbey Sandstone Tiles

Nestled in a market town within the foothills of the Peak District National Park, is home to Katie and her family. Purchased three years ago, the property is a four storey 200 year old Victorian villa requiring period restoration. The property was built in the early 19th century with the elegance and architectural grandeur of a Victorian villa. Characterised by its ornate details, bay windows, decorative trims, and high ceilings, the bones of the property evokes a sense of sophistication and refinement. With the kitchen being one of the first spaces to be renovated, step inside this Spring kitchen with us featuring the Abbey sandstone tiles.

When renovating, Katie wanted to embrace the period features of the property with its high ceilings, clean lines, and large windows. The vision behind the kitchen was to create a feeling of old meeting new, with traditional elements brought up to date in a light and bright neutral palette.

The walls, island and units are all painted in F&B ‘All White’ for an airy feel, with the kitchen by Singleton Bespoke Joinery. The Abbey time worn sandstone tiles were chosen for their free length format. Katie liked the “quality of tones, textures and that every tile has its own unique characteristics. A natural and worn stone is what I felt would fit within the period features.”

The Abbey sandstone tiles perfectly complement this white kitchen with their soft buff tones just adding enough detail and depth to the space. Whilst the oak island stools bring in warmth and the white marble worktop creates a classic and refined look. Katie tells us plans for the full restoration of the 10,000 sq. ft property, expecting it to take 20 years to finish renovating, with a fifth of the house complete to date.

With Spring and Easter just around the corner, we loved photographing and styling this bright and inviting kitchen space, bringing in touches of Spring colour and Easter inspired elements. Shop the décor pieces below.
