We love Autumn. The leaves turn amber and gold, colder nights by the log burner draw in and a harvest of pumpkins, squashes and gourds are enjoyed for their quirkiness and charm! One of my favourite parts of Autumn is visiting a pumpkin patch – hand selecting the perfect ones to decorate around the cottage with their varying hues and unusual shapes. For those wanting to visit a pumpkin patch, it still isn’t too late and there are plenty of locations across the UK for you to venture to! Below are a few of our top PYO patches...
Leicestershire
Home to our first flagship showroom in Quorn, Leicestershire, we love the surrounding countryside with many lovely footpaths, as well as a number of farms that seasonally host pumpkin picking. Wymeswold Fruit Farm is a local fruit farm that opens for October a selection of pumpkins in all shapes and sizes, as well as delicious squashes for cooking. Oscars Pumpkin Patch located on Elms Farm is another best place to pick pumpkins in Leicestershire. This is perfect for a family day trip with other activities to do on the farm, as well as picking a varied selection of unusual and wonderful pumpkins all grown on site – they even provide you with your own wheelbarrow!

Surrey
Whether you are living in Surrey or are based in London - Surrey is an ideal location to explore with great links across the county and London to help you plan the perfect Autumn family day out! Growing since 1871, Garson’s in Esher is the largest pumpkin patch in Surrey with over 100 acres of PYO fields. You can pre-book your ‘Pumpkin Pass’ which will give you entry to the farm with pumpkins and squashes ready to choose and pick!

Hertfordshire
As a family-owned business we love to support and find others who run their own businesses! With a passion for the great outdoors, The Pop Up Farm is family-run and an ideally located farm just off M1 Junction 9, next to popular St Albans. Every year they host and welcome thousands to their farming festivals - with October being a highlight for pumpkins!

Suffolk
If you are based in Suffolk or surrounding areas such as Essex, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, there is so much rural open countryside and farmland to explore! With this in mind, there is no shortage in PYO fields and pumpkin patches, but a few of our top choices would be Siam Hall ‘Spooky Pumpkins’ and Wrentham Pumpkins - with something for the whole family and an amazing selection of small gourds and squashes, as well as traditional large pumpkins.

Local Farm Shops
If you’re unable to visit a pumpkin patch, local farm shops and supermarkets often have many pumpkins and squashes available to buy in the fresh fruit and vegetable section. Perfect to bring home and decorate the house or to even make a pumpkin pie - we hope you are able to find some pumpkins of your own to mark the season!
