Working with natural stone is a real privelege. Every day I get to view beautiful limestones and marbles that have been carefully sourced, extracted and manufactured specifically for the home. Better still, I get to advise about these products to my customers and see the transformation – the finished projects! It’s always very satisfying turning blank canvas walls and floors into something a little more beautiful.
The Grand Designs TV show is a great showcase for self builders showing both what can be done and probably sometimes what shouldn’t be done! Nevertheless, it is inspiring to watch and I think we’d all admit that its hard to watch without not dreaming of building your own house one day.
So, as natural stone specialists we exhibit at the Grand Designs show every year. We meet lots of new potential customers and many past customers returning for more! But its not just about selling, I love to advise on materials and also the best way of installing and maintaining stone tiles! So many misconceptions regarding limestone this year and YES… Stone works exceptionally well with under floor heating!!
This year we saw a great interest in our Dijon Tumbled limestone. This stone looks very similar to a French Limestone but is in fact Egyptian. This helps lend the stone to a much more attractive price tag with the added benefit of being incredibly dense and hard wearing! Our tumbled Millstone tiles along with the Monte Carlo were also popular choices.
We also had a chance to exhibit our exclusive Croatian stones for the first time at a Grand Designs show and I’m pleased to say they didn’t go unnoticed! The star of the show was undoubtably our Crema Castello Brushed Limestone… a soft blend of classic creams and gentle beige mottling – perfect for large ground floor areas where one may experience changing colour schemes.
There is a lot of preparation work and planning that goes into exhibiting at the Grand Designs Live Show! Here we are preparing a Monte Carlo Tumbled Limestone tile sample board.
Here we can see Quorn Stones stand full of customers touching all the different stone tiles we had on display… Polished, Brushed, Tumbled and Honed finishes… They touched them all!
Almost opening time, the queues are amassed! Can you spot Kevin?
