Autumn Interior Home Ideas for The Season

As we welcome in Autumn and its richness of colour, with vibrant orange leaves, red apples ready to harvest and crisp mornings with golden sunlight – Autumn is possibly one of our favourite times of the year, bringing an evident seasonal shift and magical transformation of landscapes. Not to mention cosy nights by the log burner(!), Autumn is also an opportunity to embrace home comforts with beautiful interior pieces to suit the time of year and celebrate the simple joys of slowing down. To mark the season, we’re sharing interior home ideas that will certainly bring a feeling of Autumn in your own space.

Autumn Candles

First and foremost, Autumn in the home wouldn’t be Autumn without candles! Bringing warming scents and a cosy glow to a dull day or a cold evening – we love having candles lit around the home this time of year. The White Company have a range of classic scents with their ‘Autumn’ signature candle being particularly seasonal. The candle is described as ‘A gloriously bright and fruity scent inspired by afternoons spent picking fruits from the orchard beneath the dappled sunlight. The combination of crisp pear, quince and apricot blends with warming musk and amber for a rich, welcoming fragrance that marks the change in season.’

Throws and Blankets

A cosy night by the log burner is not complete without a hot drink in hand and a throw or blanket on the sofa! Throws offer warmth and comfort, and we particularly love this ‘Bailey’ throw by Neptune – perfect for those evenings with no plans other than staying in. This lovely, knitted piece made in the UK is a rich and earthy green tone and made from the finest quality lambswool and merino for a truly luxurious feel. Shop yours here.

Earthy Colour Palettes

We are seeing more and more interiors moving away from just neutral whites but incorporating richer, braver colour palettes. With a change in season, for a truly Autumnal warmth and feel to your home, why not consider repainting. Whether it’s a feature wall, panelling, or every wall of a living room, now is a perfect chance to embrace the earthy, darker tones. We love Farrow & Balls California Collection ‘Faded Terracotta’ described as “The singular colour of terracotta pots and tiles baked to a pale hue by the California sun. An easy-going shade characterized by softness and warmth.”

OKA, home of luxury furniture and accessories have a gorgeous collection of cushions in unique prints and rich hues. Opt for a mix of cushion size and patterns to create a cosy, homely feel. The Morosini, Ghini and Nostell cushion covers make a lovely colour and pattern combination.

Offering a lovely warmth in texture and tones, The Suffolk Nest has a beautiful collection of faux stems that can be layered and combined to form your very own Autumn foliage display! The faux Autumn bud spray and faux wild thistles are a few of our favourites.

Gourds & Pumpkins Display

Finally, but by no means least, a few pumpkins around the home are a must for Autumn. Whilst pumpkins are often associated with Halloween, pumpkins, squashes, and gourds are wonderful seasonal produce with such a variety in colours, shapes and even tastes! Many florists, farm shops and local supermarkets often have them available to buy this time of year. This beautiful shot by a florist and still life artist on Pinterest has particularly inspired us for our own rustic pumpkin table display.
